Q

From crew perspective, hot starts generally from?

A

Late recognition and/or delayed action of moving FCS to CUTOFF

with rapidly rising EGT, the FCS must be selected to CUTOFF well in advance (minimum 80 degrees before) red line to avoid exceedence.

Q

After landing engine cool down prior to single-engine taxi?

A
  • 3 minutes at idle for GE
  • 5 minutes at idle for PW
17
Q

MAP range for takeoff?

A

10 miles to verify runway then out to view ACTIVE WPT

18
Q

Engine Out Procedure MAP display?

A

Consider use of TERRAIN

19
Q

Danger of takeoff into strong headwinds with regards to autothrottles?

A

May arm THR HOLD before autothrottle can make final thrust adjustments.

20
Q

When does rudder become effective during takeoff roll?

A

Between 40 and 60 knots

21
Q

PM 80KTS CALL (what 3 things?)

A
  • Airspeed Indicators Agree
  • N1 THR SET
  • THR HOLD Engaged
22
Q

Rotation rate? Use of FD for rotation?

A
  • 2.5 degrees/second for approx 5 seconds
    • 15 degree pitch target
      • V2 + 15-25kts

FD Pitch Command is not used for rotation!

Do not follow commands until after liftoff as FD does not command appropriate rate or attitude!

23
Q

F/D Pitch Commands after liftoff?

A

Commands pitch to maintain an airspeed of V2 + 15 to 25 until another pitch mode is engaged.

24
Q

Turns after takeoff?

A
  • VIA = 50’
  • 2ENG = 400’
  • 1ENG = 1000’
25
Q

NADP THR Mode Selection?

A

NADP1 = THR at 1500’

NADP2 = THR at 1000’

“VNAV + C A/P to CMD”

26
Q

Max Angle vs Max Rate?

A

FMC provides angle in KTS (VNAV CLB Page).

Add 50KTS to FL UP Maneuver for best rate.

27
Q

What is FMC MAX ALTITUDE?

A

LOWEST OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • MAX CERTIFIED ALTITUDE
    • FL431
  • THR LIMIT ALTITUDE
    • Altitude at which sufficient THR avail for climb
  • BUFFET LIMIT ALTITUDE
    • Altitude at which specific margin exists prior to buffet onset. Provides 0.2G margin @ 33° bank.
28
Q

What is FMC OPT ALTITUDE?

A
  • Provides MIN COST based on flight length + weight
  • Provides 1.5g load factor (48° Bank)
  • Increases as A/C weight decreases in ECON or LRC

2000’ above OPT ALTITUDE will normally allow approx 45° bank prior to buffet onset.

29
Q

Why do we use STEP SIZE 0 in FMC?

A

Allows for proper fuel and ETA predictions based on OFP.

Otherwise, FMC uses calculated step climbs which may exceed OFP planned altitudes.

30
Q

Holding speed below 10,000’

A

Min FLAPS UP speed will exceed 200kts.

Holding with Flaps 1 or 5 will be required.

Don’t break FAA Hold Limit Speed!

31
Q

How will FMC execute an EXIT HOLD when armed?

A

It will turn inbound to hold fix as soon as it can cross it wings level and proceed to next waypoint.

32
Q

Two green donuts on EICAS during descent?

A

Deceleration Points

  • FIRST POINT
    • VNAV THR IDLE descent initiated
  • SECOND POINT
    • 240KTS/10000’
