Engines + APU Flashcards
EEC PWR Source?
Self-powered when engine running via PMA
What happens if EEC fails?
The engine will shut down.
EEC NORM provides what protections?
- Overspeed
- Overboost
- Red Line Protection
How is EEC max thrust limit displayed?
Amber line on inner arc on N1 display
EEC SOFT MODE?
When EEC auto switches to ALTN mode but switch is left in NORM.
At fixed thrust lever position, thrust does not change.
EEC HARD MODE?
Both the switch position and engine mode are ALTN.
Thrust may change to set commanded N1
What protections are lost in EEC ALTN MODE?
- OVERBOOST not provided
Max-rated thrust is reached at a thrust lever position less than full forward. Overboost can occur.
What mode(s) does EEC provide red line overspeed protection in?
Both NORM and ALTN
APPROACH IDLE commanded by EEC for what 3 conditions?
- FLAPS 25 or 30
- CONT IGNITION
- ENG A/I ON
EEC N1 pointer and color?
Indicates current reference N1 limit (MAX AUTOTHROTTLE THRUST). Can be read digitally above the corresponding N1 box.
*Changes to magenta when FMC/VNAV controlled
ENG EGT Indications are inhibited when?
During takeoff or go-around, inhibited from changing to amber for 5 MINS*.
*10 MINS for single engine ops.
UPPER or LOWER CRT failure?
Both AUTO display on the operable unit if EICAS switch in AUTO.
When is inflight start envelope displayed?
IN FLIGHT CONDITIONS WITH:
- ENG not running
- FIRE Switch not pulled
- FUEL CONTROL CUTOFF
- ENG N2 below idle
- BOTH EICAS displays selected
X-BLD displayed means? Location?
Inflight envelope is displayed but airspeed and altitude aren’t sufficient for windmill start.
ENG/APU bleed start is required.
Displayed above N2 on secondary EICAS
The red indicator on the EGT gauge? When is it visible?
EGT Start Limit. Displayed from shutdown through next engine start.
*Engine has started when it disappears
