You must use this regulation when it is necessary to signal trains by bells or telephone when one of the following applies (3)
A
- signalling equipment is being worked on or has failed
- single line working is in operation
- an out-of-gauge train is to travel between two signal boxes.

The conditions under which you accept the train must not be changed until one of the following applies (3)
A
- The train has been stopped at the first stop signal.
- The train has passed beyond the point to which the line has been kept clear.
- You have received cancelling from signaller in rear for that train.

When advance signaller would send train out of section (2)
A
- They or a competent person has seen the train, complete with tail lamp, pass beyond the point to which the line has been kept clear, or
- They have seen the train occupy and clear the track circuit ahead of the signal beyond the affected portion of line.
