- Engineering trains must be at a signal displaying a red aspect or at an FTAP
- The arrangements must be published

- Specified train at a stand or FTAP
- Signal must be showing a red aspect
- When train arrives at signal or FTAP, signaller must instruct the driver to make no further movements until authorised by the PICOP
- Signaller must advise PICOP when the driver is at a stand.

Possession taken around a train, signal may be kept at danger - (3)

- May be a signal that can be placed to danger from the box.
- May be an automatic or semi automatic signal that has been placed to danger with a signal post replacement switch.
- May be an automatic or semi automatic signal that is held at danger by an engineering train in the section ahead.

A
- Train at a stand at the signals agreed between the signaller and PICOP. If possession given up around a train, controlled signal must be used, and must be at danger.
- Signaller confirms with drivers that their trains are at a stand and the agreed signals.
- Signaller advises drivers to make no further movements until authorised verbally by the signaller.
- Signaller informs PICOP that the trains have arrived at the agreed signals.
