shocks Flashcards
septic shock is usually caused by
pneumonia, UTI
Gram negative bacteria
what are the s/s of septic shock
severe low BP cold and clammy skin delayed cap refill confusion high WBC count *** temp is high in early stages and low in later stage of illness***
Neurogenic shock is when the damage is higher than
T6
what are the s/s of neurogenic shock
low BP
low oxygen
bradycardia <60
skin warm, pink and dry
what is the priority for neurogenic shock
IV NS
hypovolemic shock is caused by
burns
severe loss of blood
what are the s/s of hypovolemia shock
low central venous pressure
low urine output
cold and clammy skin
increased SVR
what is the treatment for hypovolemic shock
lower head of the bed
IV NS - give before give vasopressors
give vasopressors such as norepinephrine and dopamine after NS
what is the important thing to remember with hypovolemic shock to not delay
giving new bag of norepinephrine when first dose is done
cardiogenic shock s/s is
severe drop in BP
increase HR
low blood volume
increased SVR
what is the treatment of cariogenic shock
dopamin and digoxin
what should you remember when giving dopamine that it can cause
tachycardia
anaphylactic shock is caused by
allergic reaction
what is treatment for anaphylactic shock
IM - EPI every 5 -15 min until cured
epi injection can cause
tachycardia and palpations - this is how u know it is working
