What is shock?
A
A life threatening condition when the body isn’t getting enough oxygen to the vital organs.

What are signs of hypovolemic shock?
A
Reduced urine output and tachypnoea.

What is shock caused by?
A
Severe internal or external bleeding, heart problems, loss of body fluids, severe allergic reactions and overwhelming infection (septic shock) and spinal cord injury.

What are some signs and symptoms of shock?
A
Pale/grey/blue skin Sweating Fast pulse Fast, shallow breathing/gasping for air A weak pulse Nausea/vomiting Restlessness/aggression Unresponsiveness

What should you do if someone is in shock?
A
Lie casualty down and raise legs, loosen tight clothing, keep them warm and monitor responsiveness.
