what does aft mean
is toward, at or near the stern or rear of the vessell
what is the sole purpose of a backup line
backup crews are not to become involved in fire attack or search. the sole purpose of the backup crew is to protect the fire attack crew.

the chief mate is second in command of a vessel. and is the person in charge of the cargo on the ship. oversees the loading, stowage, unloading, securing of cargos.

where should crew staging be set up?

floors of a ship which divide the vessel into layers. the main deck is the upper most complete deck. the deck immediately beneath the main deck is called the second deck, the next is the third, next is the fourth etc… any deck exposed to the weatrher is called a weather deck. decks above the main deck are identified by the letter ‘o’ and the nbr above the main deck.
what is the preferred method to developing a water supply on a ship fire incident.
the preferred methods are to use a ladder truck as a standpipe or watersupply from the fireboat; however the international shore connection is an alternative, but it is only the equivalent of a 2-1/2” connection.
which division is responsible for setting up water supply
dock division will be responsible for all operational issues on the dock immediately adjacent to the ship. responsibilities will include but not be limited to water supply, setting up equipment resource pool, crew staging may also be located dockside.
how many persons are allowed on the gangway in emergency operations
in emergency operations nor more than 3 persons are allowed on the gangway at the same time.

what are the responsibilities of the topside division officer
responsible for all access control functions to the hazard zone by hfd personnel. responsibilities include: assess situation with info from the ship’s captain, chief mate, or chief engineer. locate the fire control plan, access control, determine if the ship’s fire control systems are operating, assimilate and pass on all info obtained to incoming crews and command.
