elevator operations Flashcards
describe phase 1 elevator operations
phase 1 calls the elevator to a pre determined level (recall floor) and deactivates them.
describe phase 2 elevator operations
phase 2 allows the firefighters to turn the elevators back on and control them.
how is phase 1 usually initiated?
phase 1 is initiated either automatically by the building alarm system, or manually by operating a key switch.
what happens when you turn the switch to bypass
it returns the elevators to automatic mode, regardless of what the building’s alarm system is doing. the purpose of bypass setting is to be used by elevator mechanics to service elevators without disrupting the entire elevator system.
what are the four conditions that will prevent the elevators from recalling.
the in car emergency stop switch is activated.
the inspection switch is activated, allows the mechanics to deactivate elevators
independent service is in use
shunt trip device activates which cuts power to elevator motors
