Azithromycin single dose
How do you test for chlamydia/gonorrhoea?
Male = NAAT of first void urine
Female = NAAT of vulvovaginal swab
Consider oral/anal swabs
What tests would you do for gonnorhoea?
Male - FVU NAAT
Female - vulvovaginal swab NAAT
Culture of endocervical/urethral prior to abx for sensitivities
What is the tx for gonorrhoea?
IM ceftriaxone and PO azithromycin
What are the comps of gonorrhoea?
Female - PID, salpingitis, infertility, ectopic pregnancy
Male - epididymitis, prostatitis, reactive arthritis
What are the causes of non-gonococcal urethritis?
Mycoplasma genitalium
Ureaplasma urealyticum
trichomonas vaginalis
chlamydia trachomatis
How is non-gonococcal urethritis tx?
Azithromycin
How is non-gonococcal urethritis dx?
Polymorphonuclear leucocytes on microscopy of urethral swab (with UTI, gonorrhoea)
What is a sign on microscopy of BV?
Clue cells
How does BV px?
Fishy white discharge
What are the clinical criteria for BV?
Creamy white discharge
Fishy odour
pH > 4.5
How is BV treated?
Metronidazole
How does candidiasis px?
Vulval itching
Discharge
Dysuria
Dyspareunia
How is candidiasis diagnosed?
Microscopy of vaginal smear
How is trichomonas vaginalis dx and treated?
Microscopy
NAAT
