What is title of an Act?
The title of an Act is the name of that Act and it tells you what it deals with.
What is the purpose of the Act?
The purpose of an Act is always found from the title as the title phrase tells what exactly is in the Act and what it is for.
What is an Index?
An index of an Act shows what is in the Act or shows the contents of the Act.
What is Interpretation?
Interpretation in the Act contains lists of words with the definitions used in the Act.
What is date of commencement in the Act?
It is the date on which the Act became law. Anything that happens before this date does not apply to the Act concerned.
Explain Appendices & Schedules.
Appendices contain additional or extra material put into existing notes and Schedules are lists or inventory or give samples of specimen forms which must be used.
What is Regulation?
Regulations are made from the Sections of a basic Act and generally contain most of the minor laws. There are no Regulations attached to the Summary Offences Act.
What is an Amendment?
It is an alteration or a correction of errors to replace by changing part of a principal Act. The changes are done by the Parliament.
Who has the authority to amend an Act?
Only Parliament can amend an Act.
