What is the meaning of Law?
- Simply as a set of rules governing and regulating the conduct and movement of people in a society.
- Law is the system of rules that a country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members or citizens and which it may enforce by imposition of penalties.
How did the laws of PNG originate?
PNG laws derived from Australian (Queensland Criminal Code) laws which came from English (Great Britain) laws, and also the traditional values of PNG.
How the laws of PNG are made or enacted?
There are three ways laws of PNG are made or enacted:-
1. The Common law (Custom law)
2. Law Enacted by the Parliament (Statute law)
3. Judge-made law (Case law)
Name the two main types of law.
- Criminal Law
- Civil Law
Name type of laws which involves Police.
- Criminal Laws
- Civil Laws (unless a Policeman is involved as a party in the dispute).
What is the difference between the civil law and the criminal?
Difference between the civil law and criminal law is that the Police do not take civil cases to court (unless a Policeman is involved as a party in the dispute).
