Serological Examination Flashcards
1
Q
Serology of Pasteurella
A
- Capsular K antigen
-Serogroups A, B, D, E, F - Somatic O antigen
-16 serotypes
2

A
- Somatic O antigen
- Fimbrial F antigen
- Flagellar H antigen
6
Q
Serology of Salmonella
A
- Somatic O antigen
- Fimbrial F antigen
- Flagellar H antigen
7
Q
What is Serotyping?
A
- It is based on the Kaufmann and White schema
- Combination of O and H antigen types
- By agglutination
-O antigen =marked by number
-H antigen = marked by:
1. Specific phase 1 = Small letters
2. Non-Specific phase 2 = Numbers
Salmonella
8
Q
What are some other test for serotyping? (6)
A
- ELISA
- CFR
- RIA
- Commercial Latex-Agglutination test
- Agglutination on a slide
- Complement fixation test
Salmonella
9
Q
Serology of Escherichia Coli
A
- Capsular K antigen (108 types)
- Somatic O antigen (>160 types)
- Fimbrial F antigen (8 types)
- Flagellar H antigen (56 types)
By agglutination reactions = detect individual representation of antigens, we use them for antigenic formula!
10
Q
What is Latex Agglutination test?
A
It is a commercial test for detection of antigens
- Negative test = no particles detected
- Positive test = small particals detected, stick to the surface
11
Q
Serology of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
A
- Somatic O antigen
- Fimbrial F antigen
- Flagellar H antigen
