Describe Rx/Tx
a. 9375 +/- 7 MHz or 9310 MHz
b. Min 80 KW, normal 100 KW
c. RADAR uses lower sideboard
Describe antenna
a. 14 x 42 inch flat plate planar array
b. 360 degrees rotations capability
c. IRU gives attitude to keep antenna stationary (up to 20 degrees from horizontal) when turning, you keep your image.
d. Manual tilt control = +/-16 degrees
Describe Power Supply
a. 115V DC that inverters change to AC
b. RADAR has 5 Circuit Breakers
Describe RRIU (Remote Radar Interface Unit)
a. Transmits ctrl signals to RADAR
b. Takes inputs from NTS and PCU
Describe SPCU (Synchronizer Processor Converter Unit)
a. Overall RADAR system timing+ctrl
b. Supplies Tx with command + ctrl sigals
c. Rx video inputs from Rx
d. Produces PRF
Describe the waveguide Pressurization System
a. 20 PSI (max) N2 in waveguide to prevent arcing and electrical fires
Range Selection/RPM…
3nm 30 RPM 6nm 12nm 25nm 50nm NP 50nm WP 12 RPM 100nm 200nm 7.5 RPM
What is the difference between the 50NP and the 50 PW?
50nm NP = HIGH PRF is for target definition and good target detection at close range by providing more target returns per scan.
50nm WP = LOW PRF keeps the average power high, provides the time to receives returns at longer ranges improving long range target detection.
