Q

What is RADAR Range Finding?

A

Short, strong bursts of radio energy (pulses) that is reflected back to the receiver (echo). Time is converted to distance.
6.2 microseconds to travel 1NM
1 radar mile (out & back) = 12.4 microseconds

Q

How is elevation established?

A

By stabilizing the radar set with respect to the earth’s surface and by referencing the antenna tilt to the horizon.

Q

What is a Pulse RADAR?

A
  • Transmits a pulse then turns off so the receiver can Rx any echoes.
  • Eliminates interference between the transmitter and the receiver (Advantage of a Pulse RADAR)
