Q

what are the 3 stages of sensation

A

Reception - sensory receptors detect the presence of stimuli
Transduction - sensory receptors covert energy into electro chemical energy
Transmission - neural impulses leave sensory organs and travel to the brain.

Q

what are the three stages of perception

A

selection - feature detectors in the brain filter the stimuli by responding to specific features of stimulus and ignoring the rest.
Organisation - organise the features of sensory stimuli in a meaningful manner.
Interpretation - gives meaning to sensory stimuli
