evaluation of research Flashcards
1
Q
define reliability
A
refers to the consistency of measure
2
Q
2 ways to measure reliability
A
- internal consistency
- test - re test - how [people perfrom on a test one time is similiar to how they perfrom on a test at a dofferent time
3
Q
define validity
A
the extent to which something measures what it intends to measure
4
Q
4 ways to measure validity
A
- face validity - does the test appear to be measuring what it claims
- construct validity - do the test items relate to the aspect/constructs of the theory being tested
- concurrent validity - does the new test/scale that we are using as a measure yield the same results as a scale/test that we already know well.
- predictive validity - the extent to which the measure can predict other attributes thought to be related to the constructs being tested.
