how does labelling result in a SFP?
if a criminal is labelled as a criminal by his peers then this could cause them to think that all of his actions are malicious, this would lead to the person to think they are just a criminal and nothing else, leading them to believe they should not do anything else than being a criminal.
what is the self fulfilling prophecy diagram?
our actions impact others beliefs about us which causes others actions towards us to reinforce our beliefs about ourselves that influence our actions.
what is the pygmalion effect?
Rosenthal and Jacobson studied children in a classroom setting, they gave kids an IQ test then told the teachers who was the most likely to intellectually flourish, even though there was no evidence of this, this lead to the children actually becoming better at the IQ test after taking it a second time.
this shows that if people have a positive label on them then they are more likely to fulfil label and become better.
