What is interaction?
The combination of the situational and personality factors that decide the level of achievement motivation.
What is confidence?
Is a ‘belief in your ability to master a specific situation’. According to vealer confidence is based on: personality, experience, situation.
What are the features of trait confidence?
Consistent, innate confidence, shown in most situations.
What are the features of state confidence?
Is situation specific (e.g taking a penalty). It’s temporary, can vary depending on the interaction of experience and personality.
What is competitive orientation?
How much a performer is drawn to challenging situations.
What is a objective sporting situation?
The performance is a combination of the type of skill and the situation the skill is performed in.
What is self efficiency?
A belief in the ability to master a sporting situation.
What is emotional arousal?
Your interpretation of your level of anxiety. Do you experience cognitive or somatic symptoms?
What is verbal persuasion?
Reinforcement and encouragement. Most effective from significant others.
What is vicarious experience?
Seeing others (models) do it. Most effective if of a similar ability. Allows copying to occur.
