What is self efficacy?
Degree of confidence that a person displays in certain situations
What is sports confidence?
Belief and individual holds in themselves to be successful in all sports

What does Bandura’s theory state?
- If performers are competent they increase belief that they can excel
- Person with self belief is said to have self efficacy
What is self esteem? Extend to confidence and life?
- How confident someone is
- Beliefs stemming from childhood
Life: - Reduced anxiety - Optimistic outlook
- Better body image - Less influenced by peers
- Less likely for risky behaviors

What is meant by performance accomplishments?
What was previously experienced successfully , and attributed to controllable factors.

What is meant by vicarious experiences?
What has previously been observed, watching others
- Most effective when other of a similar standard
What is meant by verbal persuasion?
The encouragement received. Increase confidence.
- Effectiveness dependent on who gives (significant other)
What is meant by Emotional arousal?
Effectiveness of arousal, how well it is controlled and positively effects self efficacy/ performance.

- State sports confidence (SC state) - Performance of specific skill - subjective outcome
What is meant by SC trait?
- Existing level of confidence and existing level of competitiveness
What is meant by SC state?
- Dictates behavior, if high then increased confidence and performance
- If SC state low then poor performance
How does performance effect sports confidence?
- Positive outcome, increased trait sport confidence
- Negative outcome, decrease trait sport confidence and competitiveness
