Define the 2 parts of culture
Culture comprises of (1) the human-made part of the environment and (2) the social institutions of the society such as norms, rules, and laws

Imagine each country having a different color of tinted glasses

People partake in a specific activity due to the environment around them, this activity can shape who they are

- Self is autonomous and self-contained entity
- Self is not defined in relationship with others
- Self compromises of unique internal attributes and behaves primarily as a consequence of these attributes
Explain the interdependent construal
- Self is connected with others and is part of social relationship
- Behavior of interdependent self is contingent on what the actor perceives to be as thoughts, feelings, and actions of others
Why is the role of others relevant in knowing yourself
Maintaining a connection to others means being constantly aware of others and focusing on their needs, desires, and goals
