What does the tertiary sector do?

What do suppliers do?
Provide materials or goods needed to make or sell a product or service
What is the supplier’s aim?
To receive a fair price for goods and service it provides in order to make a profit
What do representative organisations and professional bodies do?
Represent the interest of people who work in a particular industry
What are the representative organisations and professional bodies’ aims?
To increase the number of members so they have more power
To persuade the government to make policies to improve the industry
To seek to improve working conditions for employees
What do competitors do?
Work in competition with other businesses in the same industry
What is the competitors’ aim?
To increase the number of customers and products that they sell
Why are competitors good for customers?
Product quality improves
Sometimes prices fall
What do customers do?
Purchase the goods and servicies businesses provide
Generate revenue for businesses
What is the customer’s aim?
To receive high quality goods and services at affordable prices.
What are regulatory bodies?
Organisations that are created when laws are passed by the government
What is the regulatory bodies’ aim?
To ensure that anyone who operates within the area is covered by the laws that are passed by the government
What can regulatory bodies do to people who break the law?
Prosecute or bar people from running a business
What regulatory body oversees most of the laws in the animal care sector?
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
