Q

What is site resiliency?

A

This is a recovery site that has data synchronized and it is activated if a disaster happens in the active site. This is a backup plan to increase site resiliency.

Q

What is a Hot site?

A

A hot site is an exact replicate of the datacenter. It contains all of the hardware and application software and data that the main datacenter contains. This hot site is used in case of a disaster in the datacenter.

Q

What is a Warm Site?

A

This is a site that’s between a hot site and a cold site. It has some of the physical equipment, applications and data as the main datacenter.

Q

What is COOP?

A

Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) is a plan that’s designed to think of a disaster that can cause a disruption to the norm.
For example if the technology is down, you may need to process transactions manually over the phone using a transaction book.

Q

What is a Tabletop Exercise?

A

A tabletop exercise is a simulation of a disaster recovery. The purpose is to test the logistics and processes in case of a disaster. The idea is to get all of the Key Players together and talk through the simulated disaster.

Q

What is a fail over test?

A

The purpose of this test is to test if the redundant configurations are able to switch over in case there is a failure.

Q

What is “Going Phishing”?

A

This is a term used for a test which created a phishing email attack and send it to the actual user community to see who in the community would fall for such an event.

Q

What is Parallel Processing?

A

Parallel processing allows us to split a process though multiple parallel CPUs. This improves performance and recovery.

Q

What is a Snapshot backup?

A

A snapshot backup is a popular backup method for Virtual Machines. This takes an instant backup of the entire VM at the state during the backup time.

Q

What is Journaling backup?

A

Journaling backup is the process of first backing up the database into a Journal entry, and then backup up the data to storage. This is a way to provide recovery in case of interruptions during database backups. By using journaling, database corruptions during backup are unlikely.

17
Q

What is a UPS?

A

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is a short term backup power in case of brownouts, blackouts, etc.

18
Q

What is a generator?

A

A generator is a long term power backup.
