1st- performed by user/ equipment operator
2nd- performed by specially trained personnel within the organization
3rd- specially trained personnel
4th- maintenance almost always performed at designated maintenance shops
5th- almost always performed at the depot level; can be performed at intermediate level if authorized by the commandant

Maintenance terms

A

Overhaul: restoration of item to COMPLETELY SERVICEABLE CONDITION

Preventive measures: CARE AND SERVICE for purpose of maintaining equipment and faculties in satisfactory operating condition prevent FAILURES OR MAJOR DEFECTS

Rebuild: Restore an item to a standard AS NEARLY AS POSSIBLE to its ORIGINAL CONDITION in appearance, performance, and life expectancy

Repair: RESTORATION of an item to a serviceable condition through correction of a specific problem

Unserviceable: item in a condition for use but which can be restored to a serviceable condition after REPAIR, REBUILD, OR OVERHAUL
