Secondary Flight Control Flashcards
Secondary flight controls
Secondary flight controls are considered as those which do not affect roll, pitch or yaw
~trailing edge flaps ~trimming devices ~leading edge devices ~spoliers ~speed brakes
Limit speeds
~Vf» desgin flap speed
~Vfe»_space; maximum flap extended speed
Assymmetric protection
~detect asymmetry and immediatetlu isolate the faluty side
~ interrupt flap deployment
~isolate the flap sector handle
~possibly lock the devices in potion top prevent any further movement ,requires reset on the ground
Leading edges
~droop nose»a movable device that moves downwards to increase wing camber
~kruger flaps/leading edge flap
~slats
Flap position measurement?
Measured in degrees from chord line
Flap load relief or blow back
When aerodynamic forces are too strong ,they pushed back in the flaps/slats to a lower setting “by pressure relief valve”
Leading edge flaps?
Aim to delay the max stalling angle
Kruger flaps
Increase camber whilst retaining a very small leading edge radius.
Wing root stalls before
Auto slats
If stall warning indicates a high AoA slats may extended automatically and retracted again after the warning had ceased
To activate ground spoilers at touch down requirements?
~lever in arm position
~main wheel spin up
~thrust levers at idle
Even spoilers are equipped with blow back systems,to reduce the aerodynamic froces if they are too excessive
