Q

Describe the process of transpiration

A

Water particles evaporate from the leaves and water particles move up and take their place, this process continues down through the plant with particle continually moving up through the roots

14
Q

Describe the process of capillary action

A

It helps water move up through the plant. The water particles are attracted to each other. They are also attracted to the walls of the plant, thus helps water move up through the plant

16
Q

What contains the embryo to form a new plant?

A

The seed

17
Q

Describe the process of osmosis?

A

When the concentration of water in the soil is greater than the concentration in the roots, water moves into the root cells

18
Q

What are the main parts of a seed plant?

A
Flower
Stem
Seed
Leaves
Cone
Root
19
Q

Describe the process of diffusion

A

Diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of to an area of low concentration until the there is equal particle everywhere

20
Q

Where is the food stored for the seed?

A

In the embryo

21
Q

What male plant part is part of the reproduction process?

A

Pollen

22
Q

When does pollination occur?

A

It occurs when a pollen grain lands on the stigma, it then creates a tube to transport stuff down to the ovule and then a seed starts to grow

23
Q

What are new plants that form on trees called?

A

Suckers

24
Q

What do we need to know about plants?

A

How much light they need
How much water they need
what kind of nutrients they need
And how much space they need

25
Q

What do plants provide?

A

They provide oxygen, food, shelter and ect

26
Q

What do we use plants for?

A

Food and fibre
