Science Section Three Flashcards
What is deformation?
A change in shape any structure or any structural component because the material is unable to resist the load acting on it
What are some properties of materials?
Brittleness ductility hardness plasticity resistance to heat resistance the water Compression
What is flexibility?
Flexibility is the ability of a material to be bent under force without breaking how much an object can change shape under a given load without breaking is an indication of how flexible it is
What is a joint that relies on friction?
A joint that uses friction to stay together.
What is friction?
Is the force as two surfaces rub together.
What is a joint that relies on bonding?
Changes the two surfaces being joined.
What is a fixed joint?
Fixed joints are rigid to prevent any movement.
What is a moveable joint?
They are mobile so parts of the structure can move as required.
