List the levels of the ASIA scale.
A: complete; no motor or sensory function below lesion
B: incomplete; sensory but not motor function below lesion level
C: incomplete; mm grade less than 3/5 below lesion level
D: incomplete; mm grade 3 or greater below lesion level
E: normal function
Mnemonic for cervical levels
C1-3 turn my head so I can see
C4 breath more, shrug shoulders to ignore
C5 arms up high, bend my elbow, pretend to fly
C6 pick up sticks, tenodesis helps me exist
C7 I’m in heaven, transfer myself, IND living

Brown-Sequard Syndrome
lesion
contralateral pain and temperature loss
weakness/paralysis ipsilateral
Anterior Cord Syndrome
anterior 2/3 of SC
no motor below lesion
loss of pain and temperature below lesion
Cauda Equina
loss of bladder control and sensation
DVT
deep vein thrombosis
blood clot
feeling of warmth
defer and go to nurse
