What is the bullying policy at barns farm?
Bullying - they have a worry box where children can voice their concerns, staff have to record it, if they can’t deal with it, go to a senior member of staff
STOP - start telling other people
Each school has a guidance - this school has a school council who can report problems too, anti bullying week, PSHE where you get taught about it etc
What are ways to stop bullying?
Pro active approach - keeping children busy and entertained at lunches prevents these things occurring
Promoting equality
Differentiated levels of support according to need to enable success
Should you give children rewards?
No - avoid this at barns farm, it is promoting a ‘Dont do this and you’ll get a reward’ but not actually teaching them anything
More based on intrinsic motivation - want them to be motivated to do well themselves rather than relying on rewards
Safeguarding
Can’t promise confidentiality - it is on a need to know basis only and acts in the child’s best interesfs
What would you do about a concern?
Each school has their own behaviour policy, equality, anti bullying policy on their website
I would have a look at that policy before I started working in the school
