Motivation Flashcards
What would you do if a child refuses to participate?
If a child seems reluctant to participate during a subject, I would adjust my teaching strategies to engage the student in a way that would feel more comfortable to participate. For example, working with a partner
What did I do?
Once had a child refuse to write a description of a character because they didn’t want to draw the character (low self-esteem) so what I did was print of a picture of the character so that the child could cut out and stick in so he didn’t have to worry about drawing anymore
Outcome? He was more engaged and willing to work
Next time? Offer to print out pictures for the children with low self esteem
What classroom behaviour strategies have you seen demonstrated in the classroom?
Class rules on the whiteboard - that you have set with the students (proactive)
Encouraging positivity and praise - giving out stickers, rewarding good behaviour
Creating stimulating lessons - I have seen that when the children are bored and don’t enjoy the topic, behaviour starts to worsen (talking, mucking around etc) but if they are engaged, they often get on with their work with positive behaviour
Reactive - planning alternative activities for the children to do if they get bored
Developing positive relationships with the children - so that they respect you
