Definition of schizophrenia
A severe mental disorder where contact and reality are impaired an example of psychosis
Positive symptoms of schizophrenia
Atypical symptoms experience in addition to normal functioning include hallucinations and delusions
Négative symptoms of schizophrenia
Atypical experiences that represent a loss of usual experience such as a loss of clear thinking or loss of motivation
What is co-morbidity
The occurrence of two disorders together for example schizophrenia and depression
What is a positive characteristic
Something gained (can be good or bad)
What is a negative characteristic
Something lost (can be good or bad )
What is comorbidity
The extent of two or more conditions presenting together

They assessed patients with co-morbid schizophrenia on its own. They found that despite there being considerate symptom overlap in patients with schizophrenia and cocaine abuse, it was actually possible to make accurate diagnoses
