SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic Flashcards
What is thought to be the mechanism of action of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients?
We propose that the immunomodulatory effect of hydroxychloroquine also may be useful in controlling the cytokine storm that occurs late-phase in critically ill SARS-CoV-2 infected patients.

What is the SAVE score used for?
To assist prediction of survival for adult patients undergoing ECMO for refractory cardiogenic shock.
SAVE stands for Survival After Veno-arterial ECMO
Where does the data that the SAVE score is based on come from?
Data was extracted from 2003 to 2013 from the ELSO registry (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization registry).
From “Predicting survival after ECMO for refractory cardiogenic shock: the survival after veno-arterial ECMO (SAVE) score
What is the RESP score used for?
It was designed to predict survival for adult patients undergoing ECMO for respiratory failure (usually V-V ECMO).
Where does the data that the RESP score is based on come from?
It comes from data extracted from 2000 to 2012 from the ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization) international registry.
