Sanctification Flashcards
Give a brief definition of sanctification
Sanctification referees to being sanctified or holy. In other words, It is being set apart as sacred. Objects and animals are holy or sanctified when they are set apart for God’s purposes. God’s people are to progressively grow in holiness until the Day of the Lord, at which point all believers will be completely sanctified.
Why does man need to be sanctified?
God’s people are holy by being God’s possession and have a responsibility to live in a way that reflects this relationship. Believers are freed from the power of sin as they present their bodies as ‘a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God’ (Rom 12:1)
Submitting to the process of sanctification is a way of showing our love for God and a way of bringing glory and honor to God. We also draw more people to Christ as we become more and more Christ like.
When does sanctification start? When does sanctification end?
Sanctification starts after regeneration and continues until the second coming of Jesus when the process is made complete.
What part does the cross of Christ play in the work of sanctification?
