Person Of God Flashcards
What is the basis for the Christian concept of God as being a person?
Anything that has will, self-awareness, emotions, being able to recognize others, speaking, etc. is a person. Thus, God qualifies as a person.
Each person of the trinity has a will - Luke 22:42; 1 Cor. 12:11
Each person speaks - Matt 3:17; Luke 5:20; Acts 13:2
OT speaking - Gen 1:29; Exodus 3:14

God is light - 1 John 1:5 “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all”

Atheism
The belief that there is not God
Deism
The belief in the existence of God on the evidence of reason and nature only, with rejection of supernatural revelation or the belief in a God who created the world but has since remained indifferent to it.
Theism
Theism states that the existence and continuation of the universe is owed to one supreme Being, who is distinct from Creation. For this reason, theism proclaims a dualistic relation between God and the world, wherein God is a being who controls events from outside the human world.
Pantheism
The belief that the reality, the universe and the cosmos is identical with divinity and a supreme being or entity, pointing to the universe as being a immanent creator deity still growing and creating, which has existed since the beginning of time, starting with the Big Bang.
Anthropomorphism
Ascribing human form or attributes to a being or thing not a human, especially a deity
How can God maintain a personal relationship with his creatures?
First, God made a personal relationship possible with his creatures through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. Our sin creates a necessary distance between us and God. To resolve this issue, God sent Jesus to permanently atone for our sin, making way for us to enter the presence of God and be in relationship with God. However, for the relationship to begin, we must accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and confess our sins and ask for forgiveness.
What are some evidences and arguments for the existence of God?
