A 15 year old patients with pyrexia, sore throat and bilateral parotitis.
On palpitation of the parotids the saliva is clear, and there is no xerostomia. What is the diagnosis?
A
Mumps
No reduced saliva so can’t be sjögrens
Can’t be bacterial as there is no pus and saliva is clear
It’s bilateral so mumps ( vaccine by MMR) would prevent it
