Explain the definition of ‘alcohol’?
A) Alcohol means a substance that
i) is or contains a femented, distilled or spiritous liquor and
ii) at 20c is found on analysis to contain 1.15% or more ethanol by volume or
B) that
i)is a frozen liquid or a mixture of a frozen liquid and another substance or substances; and
ii)is alcohol when completely thawed to 20c or
C)that whatever its form is found on analysis to contain 1.15% or more ethanol by weight in a form that can be consumed by people.
Identify and define the scope of an ‘On-Licence’
On-Licence
- Authorises the holder to sell, supply and allow the consumption of alcohol on the premises.
Identify and define the scope of an ‘Off-Licence’
Off-Licence
- Authorises the holder to sell, deliver and arrange for delivery of alcohol for consumption off the premises.
Identify and define the scope of an ‘Club Licence’
Club Licence
- Authorises the holder to sell and supply alcohol for consumption on the premises to any:
- Member of the club
- Guest accompanied by a member
- Member of another club with reciprocal visiting rights.
Identify and define the scope of an ‘Special Licence’
There are 2 types of Special Licence
1) On site sell and supply alcohol for consumption on the premises to any person attending any occasion or event described in the licence.
2) Off site sell alcohol for consumption elsewhere to any person attending any occasion or event described in the licence.
Define the term ‘intoxication’
Intoxicated means observably affected by alcohol to such a degree that 2 or more of the following are evident:
- Appearance is affected
- Behaviour is impaired
- Co-ordination is impaired
- Speech is impaired
Explain the rules of displaying licences and signs.
S56 & S57 Display of licence
- Copy of the licences must be displayed at all times. Attached to the interior of the premises and easily read by people entering through each principal entrance.
S214(3) Display of the managers identity
- Name of the manager on duty must be prominently displayed inside the premises.
Inadequate or incorrect signage reported to Alcohol harm prevention officer.
