what is the abdominal assessment?
inspect the stomach.
auscultate listening for the bowel sounds, any gurgling sounds.
palpation, wave like. start away from the pain. feeling for any accurate pain location and masses.
percusion- use to detect large armounts of fluid in the abdomen region.
what does cloudy unrine mean?
dehydration, UTI, conditions related to the kidney
what does brown urine mean?
dehydration, liver disease, porphyria, diet related
what is red urine?
clotting, kidney stones, tumour in bladder
what is green urine?
bacterial infection
what is pink urine?
large prostrate. kidney stones, and tumours in the bladder.
what is the bristol stool chart?
type1-7 of different types of poos. 1 being seperate hard lumps and 7 being watery no soild peices.
what are the causes of abdo pain?
inflammatory bowel disease.
DKA (when there is severe lack of insulin in the body.)
lower lobe pneumonia (inflammation of the lobe)
constipation
UTI
what is a UTI?
an infection in any part of the urinary system.
what is the treatment for a UTI?
antibiotics and increase fluid intake
what is appendictis?
inflammation of the appendix due to an virus that traps faecal matter and the mucus outflow is blocked and the appendix becomes distended.
what are the signs of appendicitis?
nausea vommiting fever and pain
what is gastroenteritis?
inflammation of the stomach/ small intenstine. spread through faecal-oral route.
