what are the steps to administrate iv fluids?

get a 500ml bag of iv fluid, iv giving set, a 3 way tap, and a 60ml iv syringe

open the bag of iv fluid, clamp the giving set, remove the lid and spike the bag of fluid.

hang the bag of fluid

squeeze the drip chamber until its half way. connect the giving set to the 3 way tap, and connect the syringe to the top of the 3 way tap.
turn it to the syringe and off to the patient ensuring all clamps are open. unclamp the fluid and pull back on the syringe.
get rid of any air. turn the 3 way tap onto the patient. and expell the air.

attach the 3 way tap to the canullar and give the volume of fluid required to the patient.
