how would you take a history of presenting complaint?
when did the chest pain begin?
how severe?
relieving or aggravating factors?
did the pain at rest or exertion?
is the onset acute, subacute or chronic.
any recent illness?
took any meds.
any dizziness, palpating or oedema to the legs.
how would you do a cardiac assessment?
general observations.
interpretation of vital signs, inspection, palpation, and auscultation of heart sounds.
what is a MI?
myocardial infarction. when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked fully or partially, the blockage can be caused by build up of fat or cholesterol. heart attack.
signs of a MI. and treatment?
jaw pain, neck pain, chest pain, nausea, indigestion, heartburn, abdominal pain, shortness of breath. treat with asprin.
how would you identify a stemi?
STEMIs are recognized by their characteristic ECG findings of having ST-elevation. a stemi is due to a heart blockage.
what is a NSTEMI?
caused my a partial blockage in one of the vessels in the heart
how can you tell what a nstemi from a ecg?
set segment depression, t waves flattening, Q wave may be absent.
what is angina?
chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. at risk of a heart attack or stroke.
