why is large surface area to volume ratio important?
A
it must be large to allow for the cell to be efficient in passing materials in and out of it.
small cells have a larger sa/volume ratio, indicating that for small cells there are more places for molecules to pass through the membrane at one rate, so the rate of movement is faster. Making small cells more efficient in exchanging materials with the outside environment.
