ROM of the hip and MMT Flashcards
Hip flexion
-120 degrees
goniometer:
-fulcrum- over the greater trochanter of the femur
-stationary arm- parallel to the lateral trunk
-movement arm- pointing towards the lateral epicondyle of the femur
hip extension
-prone position
-30 degrees
-goniometer:
-fulcrom- over the greater trochanter of the femur
-stationary arm- parallel to the lateral trunk
-movement arm- pointing towards the lateral epicondyle of the femur
hip abduction and adduction
-supine position
-45 degrees
goniometer:
-fulcrum: on the ASIS of leg you are testing
-stationary arm- pointing towards the opposite ASIS
-movement arm- pointing towards the center of the patella
hip internal rotation and external rotation
-45 degrees
goniometer
-fulcrum- placed over the midpoint of the patella
-stationary arm- perpendicular to the flooor
-movement arm- on the tibia between the malleoli (anterior midline of the tibia )
rectus femoris
-patient seated on the table-hip flexion and knee extension try to break them out of it
iliopsoas
-hip flexors only
-seated at the end of the table, bring their leg up into hip flexion and they are resisting hip extension
sartorius
-FABER- flexion abduction external rotation
-have patient seated, put them into FABER plus knee flexion, then try to bring them into a straight leg position
gluteus maximus
-patient is prone, put the knee in slight flexion, have them raise off the table and try to push them done- this is testing hip extension
gluteus minimus
-hip abductor
-have patient lying on side, bring their leg ip and they hold, the foot is in neutral position, try to break them out of it
tensor fasciae latae
-supine
-internally rotate the whole leg, bring them into hip abduction and flexion, trying to break them out of it
hip external rotators
-piriformis, quadratus femoris- obturator internus- obturator externus, gemellus superior, gemellus inferior
-hip external rotation and try to break them out of it
