Heavy rainfall
A gauge may be filled with water, if you decide to cross it:
Use a lower gear
Drive though slowly
Test your brakes afterwards: wet brakes are less effective

When visibility becomes reduced

When visibility is seriously reduced, you MUST use headlights and you may also use fog lights.
Turn of headlights when visibility improves because they can:
Dazzle other road users
Road users behind you won’t be able to see your brake lights clearly
Fog on motorways
Red studs mark the left hand edge of the carriageway
Amber studs mark the central reservation
Driving at night
Make sure your headlights don’t dazzle the vehicle you’re following or any oncoming traffic.
If you meet other road users at night, dip your headlights so that you don’t dazzle them.
Coasting
Driving with the clutch down or in neutral for any length of time (reduces the control of the car, especially steering and braking)
Dangerous when driving downhill
Engine braking
Using the engines resistance to help slow the vehicle
