Risk of stroke after TIA
What does A stand for?
age
age >60 = 1
What does B stand for?
blood pressure
> 140/90 = 1
What does C stand for?
Clinical features (max 2 points)
unilateral weakness = 2
speech difficulty without weakness=1
What does D stand for?
Duration (max 2 points)
> 60mins=2
10-59mins=1
<10 mins=1

PMH in ABCDs
AF, or any funny heart beats
Any TIA in the past
Management of ABCD2
immediate: if AF present use CHADVAS
urgent: 0-3, all patient suspected with TIA should be seen in the next 7 days
immediate: 4-7
2 TIA within the same week; antiplatelet treatment
A patient with a score of >4 should be assessed by a specialist within 24hrs
Beakdown of ABCD2
low risk: 0-3
moderate risk: 4-5
high risk: >6
Medications for managing ABCD2
antiplatelets: aspirin, clopidogrel
Statin
