- skin lesions especially ERYTHEMA NODOSUM
- eye lesions
Renal involvement and haematological changes less likely
What are the features of CREST syndrome?
also known as limited cuteness system sclerosis
CREST
C- calcinosis
R- Raynaud;s
E - oesophageal dysmotility –> dysphagia
S - sclerodactyly
T - telangiectasia
What antibody is associated with CREST syndrome (limited cutaneous scleromderma)?
anti-centromere antibody
(Anti nuclear antibody is positive as well but not specific)
What are the features of systemic scleroderma?
CREST symptoms AND systemic involvement - heart, lungs, renal
What antibody is associated with systemic scleroderma?
anti-topoisomerase antibodies such as anti-scl70
Polymyalgia rheumatica
- age > 50
- bilateral shoulder or pelvic girdle aching and stiffness
- morning stiffness >45 minutes
- high ESR or CRP
CK is normal
Polymyositis
Muscle WEAKNESS
HIGH CK levels
Anti-jo antibody positive
Diagnosed by muscle biopsy
