Polymyalgia Rheumatica
Chronic inflammatory disease.
Normally women >50 years
Symmetrical pain in shoulders, hips, or neck; morning stiffness; and systemic symptoms (e.g., fatigue, malaise, and depressed mood).
Tx: prednisolone
What does CREST stand for?
Calcinosis cutis, Raynaud phenomenon, esophageal hypomotility, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia.
What is CREST syndrome?
A constellation of symptoms in systemic sclerosis.
Antibodies in CREST?
Anticentromere antibodies
How Sjogren syndrome diagnosed?
Positive antibodies - Anti-Ro/ Anti-La
Salivary gland biopsy
Dermatomyositis
Inflammatory myopathy.
Progressive, proximal muscle weakness. Erythematous rash on the extensor hand joints (Gottron sign), upper eyelids (heliotrope rash), upper anterior torso (V-sign), and upper posterior torso (shawl sign).
