A
Myoglobin filtered by glomeruli, obstructing the tubules

A
red/brown (tea/cola) coloured urine
visible at urine myoglobin >250 micrograms/ml

A
Plasma CK >1000 iU/L

A
AKI (12-24hrs after)
DIC

Rx of rhabdomyolysis
A
Urgent Hyperkalaemia rx
IV fluids (initially up to 1.5 L) to keep myoglobin con low, stop AKI
IV sodium bicarb
Dialysis/ICU may be needed

A
alkalinises the urine
stabilises a less toxic form of myoglobin
