Components of a resus kit
A
- Oxygen cylinder
- Pressure reducer
- Demand valve (bag refill valve)
- Soft resus bag
- Suction
- Ancillary equipment- mask, OPAs, tubes etc

Daily checks of resus kit
A
- Open cylinder, make sure there’s at least 100 bar
- Check oxygen therapy by rotating the flow control on the pressure reducer
- Connect the demand valve to bag and make sure that the bag squeezes and re-inflates
- Check suction catheter
- Close the cylinder
- bleed/release pressure with suction button or with therapy flow

How to use for oxygen resus
A
- Make sure valve is connected to bag, connected to mask
- Insert OPA if appropriate
- Head tilt for casualty
- Mask sealed over patients nose and mouth correctly
- Squeeze bag gently but firmly (look for chest rise)
- Allow for an exhale
- Continue CPR and constantly reassess airway. Be prepared for suction of fluids (vomit, blood etc)
