Point 1- Free prescriptions in Scotland
Since the scheme was introduced the number of items given out for long term conditions has increased year on year- helping to break down the barrier to healthcare.
Point 2- Free school meals for primary in Scotland
Since its introduction there been a 81% increase in those receiving school meals.
Point 3- Minimum unit pricing
In Scotland MUP les to a 7.35 reduction in alcohol sales in its first year whilst England and Wales saw increases.
Rebuttal 1- hasn’t made improvements in overall health
Scots average life expectancy is 77 and 80 in England.
Rebuttal 2- hasn’t helped kids overall health
I in 4 kids are obese in Scotland.
Rebuttal 3- hasn’t helped alcohol related accidents
In 2020 there was an increase of 17% alcohol related deaths from the previous year.
