FPTP is simple for the voter
In 2017 election only 1% of ballot papers were spoilt.
AMS is confusing for the voter
In 2021 Scottish parliament election the turnout was 63% but in the 2019 general election turnout was 68%.
FPTP provides a majority government
In 2015 general election the conservatives won with 331 seats - over the 326 needed for a majority
AMS may provide a minority government
In 2021 the SNP failed again to gain a majority government and was behind by 1 seat.
AMS doesn’t provide citizens with clear MP’s.
Most people know that Christine Graham represents them in the Scottish parliament but not many know that Claudia Beamish also represents them.
FPTP provides a clear relationship with the MP
John Lamont is the MP for this area and was elected in 2017 replacing Calum Kerr.
