Why are routine radio net tests taken?
It allows control to:
- check the network is functioning
- test the equipment
- to establish all individual outstation radios are receiving and functioning
What does HELLO mean in radio transmissions?
Starts all transmissions

Ends transmissions of a reply is wanted
What does OUT mean in radio transmissions?
Ends transmissions if a reply isn’t wanted

What is an ACCT plan? And how is it opened?
Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork plan. It’s a process to support prisoners at risk of self-injury.
It is opened by completing a Concern and Keep Safe form
Name the 3 levels of command implemented in the case of a serious incident
Bronze Commander -> Member if staff in charge at the incident site
Silver Commander -> Person in charge at the prison and responsible for tactical implementation of strategy set by the Gold commander
Gold Commander -> Provides remote strategic support and is typically a senior manager at HMPPS HQ

- Ring alarm bell on the wing
- Ring personal alarm on radio
- Shout for help
- 3 blasts of the whistle
- Call for help over the radio
- Call extension 222 on the wing phone
What must be considered when dealing with evidence?
Preservation is key- this means handling as little as possible with gloves on and not cleaning up spills
Contamination needs to be avoided
Continuity of exhibits- the ‘chain of evidence’ needs to be untouched
What needs to be written on an evidence bag?
- Prisoner name and number
- Date and location evidence found
- Who found it
- The staff present
- Date and time handed to Security
- Brief description of evidence
