What is an escort?
An escort is the movement of one or more prisoners beyond the secure confines of the prison under custody and control of the staff
What is a Person Escort Record?
It identifies the prisoner and includes risk assessment that considers the risk of escape or other possible harm e.g self harm
How many staff need to accompany a prisoner?
2 staff
Cat D only need 1
What are the three types of restraint? And when are they typically used?
Standard cuff for men
Ratchet cuffs- enables security for small risk and used for all women and men with small wrists
Escort chain- used when privacy is needed e.g toilet
Low risk- single cuff
High risk- double cuff
Describe what must happen in bed watch?
Prisoner is cuffed to the bed
Restraints are checked every hour at irregularly intervals
Visitors are only allowed with permission from the governor
Name the two documents that must be checked by reception
The committal warrant
And PER
Must also check persons identity and Order Court if necessary
What is a Cell Share Risk Assessment?
All prisoners have one and it’s to see if a person poses a risk if they shared a cell
